dignity and honor

these two virtues sit side by side, yet quite elusive nowadays.
our forebears have taught us that without it,we are merely mortals barren of souls
there is no price for these qualities, in fact quite the opposite
if you sell your honor, your name is shamed
your dignity shattered

whatever it is, i want to remember all those who have gone before me
those who fought hard and died for their truths
and not treaded on someone elses
its a shame if i become a warrior with no cause
because each day, i fight to have a clean name
by respecting myself and those i'm surrounded with

its not a perfect life but on a personal level,
id rather have
my honor upheld
my dignity intact
than walk around with a
big SOUL SELL-OUT sign on my forehead.

but then again, whatever floats your boat.

inspired by the events in my life: there is no price to a good name,a respected character.
i will not be bribed in exchange for my dignity.

to explain further: if a colleague gets upset because they have asked you to do something against your principle, say NO..its hard, but say No and the truth:why [even if it entails them giving you the hard time at work day-in and out; the sulking the cold shoulder, the evil looks]..its hard to cover people's assess all the time, but always think, these same people will not testify for you when the time comes, you're saddled with a lawsuit for doing them (covert) favours.

oh chelo, i do love you for your principles. dignity and honor are so precious to me as well, and i hope my sons grow up with these values entrenched in their hearts.
