bread stuck

so i learned how to make bread.

the lesson wasn't for me, but as a birthday gift to Adrian. to make him feel less self-conscious about the course, i joined him too. and it turns out, i did enjoy it.

it turns out, there were 2 other women and 2 other men in the course. (a french couple, and two others who weren't a couple..interesting trivia: one the man who was with us is a popular book-house and publisher in London). our teacher was a Danish blonde beauty who bikes daily across London to get from point A to B. She has a charming Belsize flat. Sadly, i wasnt able to take any photos, as my hands were very doughy from the moment we got in the door.

the course was not a serious baker's one. it was for beginners who have little or no experience with bread-making, and just want to make their own bread. that's us!

although adrian knows how to make a simple bread, and he is a prolific bread machine user, he has little experience with kneading techniques.

we learned how to make malthouse grain bread, rustic wheat rye bread and olive focaccia.

buttering, kneading and proofing..serious words we are using the next few days in this household.

now,Adrian is set for his retirement. he can make me new breads everyday.

i cant wait to eat more of these..coming right up!

one day, hopefully i could say to my family in a very confident manner, "pan mo diha, init pa!!"

Nothing beats the smell of freshly backed bread from the oven. And the taste of melting butter? Hmmmm . . . . heaven!
