I grabbed the chance. It's not everyday i get to see an icon i like in person, and the last time i opted out begrudgingly was when they had a personal signing from Audrey Niffeneger (author of Time Traveller's wife) as i had essays to finish and it was a very busy week.
I asked Adrian to come with me (because as much as he doesn't admit it,he has a huge crush on Nigella) so that we could have a dinner date out in London town as well.
After work,we rushed to London to greet the rushing home traffic. peak time. But that doesn't bother you when you're travelling only for leisure, and in no rush.
We got to Waterstone's Piccadilly quarter to 6PM. it was a bit early for the 7Pm signing.
We went to the 5th floor city view restaurant to have cakes and drinks. Adrian had a British ale while i had cappucino and chocolate mousse cake.
We stayed there and chatted about future plans (thats our favourite conversation, future planning, haha).
We have the best surprise when we got upstairs because Grazia magazine was also doing "An Audience with Nigella"-an hours interview with Nigella (very informal and chatty) and in the end, a question and answer portion from the audience (us!). i was the second woman to ask a question. the first one was one of the staff of the magazine who asked :"what are you wearing, only because the magazine readers would ask what you would be wearing"..and i think because they're a fashion magazine, they had to ask it. I asked the question "in your programs, you always end with a scene where you are in your dressing gown, opening your fridge in what seems to be late night binges of the left over, does that happen in real life?" I asked that question because Adrian and i always comment about these scenes when we watch her show and we always have a theory that its just a titillation for the audience. and we were right. Nigella answered the question and said, she tries to avoid the fridge after dinner, and doesnt go near it, but sometimes, it cant be helped. And added, its quite rare as she normally has a substantial meal during the night.
The Simpson Room was very festive. There was a free champagne and mulled wine. There were free festive cupcakes from a sponsoring cake company. And in the side were books ready for purchase.
she was jokey and jovial...such a sexy woman too:-)
i was floating on air the whole night. i was so starstruck
we went to a have steak at Angus Steakhouse which was just next door to Waterstones.
i got books from that day. i got two (from my christmas wish list). i got another Kitchen one (her latest) because i know someone who would appreciate it as much as i have..
she asked who Patricia was, i said, its a christmas present to my friend Patricia in Singapore who is also a big fan of her. she smiled and said to "please thank her for me". oh pat, you hear that?
She asked how to pronounce/spell my name. I had her gaze and her attention for those minutes.
Fantastic evening. So happy for wonderful evenings like these:-)

Oh wow! How awesome! I'm pretty sure Patricia would love this!
I watch her whenever I can and I love how she wakes up at night hungry and then whips up something unhealthy. LOL!
hi Ai:-) im glad you like her too:-) yes, thats one of my fave parts of her show:-) and she is so 'normal' in real life, she admits, sometimes, she'd rather buy things than make them, she said, if time is an essence or something is better than what she makes, shed rather buy it,haha:-) normal kaayo:-)
